Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chunks or chips
  • Flaky sea salt for topping


Instructions

  1. Brown butter in a saucepan, then let cool slightly.
  2. Mix brown butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  4. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Fold dry ingredients into wet until just combined.
  6. Fold in most of the chocolate chunks, saving some for topping.
  7. Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
  8. Press extra chocolate chunks on top of each dough ball.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.
  10. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt after baking, then cool.
